We are currently looking for an experienced professional to join an acute care hospital in the Zurich Oberland as Head of Urology. In this role, you will assume overall medical, financial, and personnel responsibility for the urology department, which handles approximately 850 inpatient admissions per year, and play a key role in shaping the future of urology in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Assume overall responsibility for the urology department in terms of medical care, financial performance, and personnel management.

  • Strengthen and further develop key specialisations, including uro-oncology with prostatectomy and nephrectomy, complex endourology, robotic surgery, transurethral therapies, continence, and sexology.

  • Ensure high standards of treatment quality and provide attractive training and professional development opportunities in collaboration with three senior physicians and affiliated physicians.

  • Lead a service-oriented, interprofessional department while ensuring efficient use of resources.

  • Maintain and expand regional partnerships with referring physicians, independent practitioners, and partner hospitals.

  • Support the department management in further developing the hospital's surgical specialties.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Specialist qualification in Urology and a Swiss subspecialty qualification in Uro-Oncology.

  • Several years of clinical experience, with broad specialist knowledge and extensive surgical expertise.

  • A confident, integrative leadership personality with strong interpersonal skills when dealing with employees, referring physicians, and partners.

  • An understanding of interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration on an equal footing, as well as basic business and financial knowledge.

  • Enthusiasm for training and mentoring younger colleagues.

  • Experience initiating, leading, and implementing projects.

Benefits & Culture

  • A high degree of professional autonomy and the opportunity to further develop and establish urology as a key specialty in the region.

  • A cantonal service mandate for prostatectomies and nephrectomies.

  • Modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art surgical equipment.

  • The opportunity to expand existing areas of specialisation and establish new ones together with the team.

  • Well-established interdisciplinary collaboration and short decision-making processes.

  • A teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Zurich, a central location near the train station, and either a ZVV BonusPass public transport benefit or affordable parking options
